Summer Reading

Grades 5-12 Summer Reading 2020

The Pillow Academy English department has planned a more streamlined summer reading experience for 6th-12th grade students. It is our hope that our students enjoy not only these carefully curated book selections, but also a fun, healthy summer break with family and friends.

Guided reading and/or discussion questions for each book will be posted on the Pillow Academy website by June 1, 2020. All students should be prepared to turn in completed questions on the first half day of school in August and should plan for testing on required books on the second full day of classes in August. The books assigned by the English department at Pillow Academy represent a mix of classic and contemporary literature. Many books address complex situations and may contain adult themes and language. The attempt to expose students to challenging topics and issues is intended to serve as opportunities for students to think, theorize, question, and explore.
