Friday, September 20th – Homecoming 2019

    • FPKids at 7:00 a.m. in the Elementary Library for students in grades 3-5.
    • This will be a half day of school for grades K4-12.
      • 10:00 Classroom Parties
      • 11:00 Parade
      • 11:30 Pep Rally
      • 12:00 Dismissal for K4 and K5
      • 12:15 Dismissal for 1st-5th grades.
    • Students are to wear their 2019 Homecoming T-Shirt, cheer uniform, football jersey, or regular school uniform.
    • Parents will not be allowed to park along the carpool route (Playground or CRAIG area).  They will need to park at the soccer field or football field. Click for map with parade route and parking . . . 
    • A form has been sent home about ½ day afternoon care available for sign-up.  Times are 12:15-3:30 and cost is $20 cash.

  • Football Theme: Green and Gold.

Looking Ahead

    • Monday, September 30th and Tuesday, October 1st– Mini-Cheer Camp for students in Grades K4-4.
    • Friday October 4th:  Mini-Cheer campers will perform at 2:00 p.m. at the Pep Rally and at halftime of the football game.  Girls in 2nd-4th grades are invited to cheer with varsity cheerleader on the track during 3rd quarter.
    • October 11th: K4 and K5 Parent Conferences.  Students in K4 and K5 do not come to school this day.
    • October 14th: Fall Break -NO SCHOOL
    • October 15th: Late Start Morning
    • October 25th: Grandparents’ Day program at 9:00 a.m. in the CRAIG.  This is for Grandparents and Grandfriends only, since space is limited. Students are required to wear DRESS UNIFORMS.

Reminders

  • Modesty shorts must be worn under girls’ jumpers skirts and dresses, but should not be seen.  The modesty shorts should be a solid color of white, navy, dark green, gray, or black.
  • Boys undershirts are limited to the following colors: white, green, gray, or gold.
  • Please DO NOT form the double until 3:10 p.m.
  • Only Parents with Junior high students should pick their child up at 3:10 p.m. on the elementary porch.
  • Please DO NOT form the double until 3:10 p.m.
  • If a student in Grades 1-5 is late, he/she must go by the office to receive an admission  slip before going to class. Students in Grades K4-5 will receive a tardy if arriving after 8:00 a.m.

Homecoming Traffic and Parking

For safety, traffic and parking will be different this year with several roads on campus blocked-off along the parade route. Click for map with parade route and parking . . . 

  • The Main Gate will be closed at 10:00 a.m. & reopened for carpool at 11:30 a.m.
  • Anyone wishing to park on campus may park in the soccer parking lot or by the Sethi Student Activity Building. To park in these areas you must be on campus by 10:00 a.m.
  • There will NO parking along the parade route – no parking on the sides of the indicated roadways. Click to see map.
  • The West Gate will remain open with limited parking in the football field parking lot.  Half of this area will be used for parade set-up and line-up.
  • Please be patient this day and allow extra time when exiting campus and going through carpool.

National Elementary Honor Society

Pillow Academy  inducted a group of fifth graders into the National Elementary Honor Society. These students maintained an overall average of 93 or higher in every subject area in the past school year. These students displayed strong evidence of responsibility and leadership skills. They also had no Citizenship marks that  scored below “satisfactory” during all 4 nine-weeks of fourth grade. Congratulations students!

Carpool

Please be patient in our carpool lines  Here are a few reminders that parents need to do to help carpool move quickly and ensure students are safe.

  • Please make sure student are getting out on the right side of the car
  • Pull up to the sign
  • Do not pass other cars
  • If you are dropping off a Kindergarten and 1st-5th grade student, you only have to make one stop.  You can pull to the kindergarten building and when the kindergarten student gets out, the older child may get out and walk through the 1st grade side entrance.
  • Afternoon carpool, the double line does not form until 3:10 AND the double line should not go past the brick columns.
  • SAFETY IS OUR MAIN CONCERN!
