HOMEWORK = Study for vocab test Monday and find your sources.
TUESDAY:
Lesson for the Day
RESEARCH PAPER
-What is a source? Discuss. For the summer reading paper, you used only one source and that
was the book. For this paper, you will use 5 sources: 1 book, 2 from a database (I’ll discuss what
that is and how to use that later), and 2 websites (must be legit)
-Once you find your sources, put on Source Handout (pass out)/gives the info to create a Works
Cited page, which is the last page of your essay, that tells your reader the sources you used.
(You will get a handout later on for this.) DO NOT WRITE SOURCES DOWN ON SOURCE
HANDOUT SHEET UNTIL I TELL YOU TO.
-Now that we have our outline and source handout/how the paper is to be set up and what a
source is/that you must have 5, let’s talk more in-depth about the sources:
-Pass out “How to Access Magnolia Database” and discuss/SHOW THEM HOW TO USE
MAGNOLIA
-LOOK AT YOUR OUTLINE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU NEED as far as the topic of
the BP and what to type in/research (Discuss this in detail using the outline to
show/explain to them.)
-Take to library and spend rest of class looking for, printing off, making copies of sources
(bring career textbooks from my shelf).
HOMEWORK = Study for vocab test Monday and find your sources.
WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY:
Lesson for the Day
RESEARCH PAPER
-Continue working in the library… finding articles from database/finish gathering all sources
*Checking for all 5 sources in hand MONDAY. If you’re ready for me to check your
sources before Monday, SHOW ME!
-20 pts per missing source
-Websites must be printed out, labeled ‘Website’, and stapled…
Book source must have parts printed out that you plan on using in the paper
and labeled ‘Book’... Articles from Magnolia must be printed out and labeled
‘Database’ with the detailed record stapled to the source for proof
-Highlight on your sources the best pieces of t.e. and label which BP it would
support.
*I will NOT accept anything less for sources. You MUST follow my
guidelines above; otherwise, 20 pts per source not organized
fully/correctly.
*AGAIN, DO NOT FILL OUT SOURCE HANDOUT SHEET OR OUTLINE
UNTIL I TELL YOU TO DO SO!
